High-efficiency buck–boost inverter architecture for transformer-less solar photovoltaic grid integration
Abstract
A buck-boost transformerless inverter provides an efficient and compact way to connect solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to the utility grid. By removing the large line-frequency transformer, the inverter becomes smaller, cheaper, and more efficient at converting energy. The buck-boost feature allows the system to handle a wide range of PV input voltages while keeping a stable AC output. This ensures reliable performance even with changing sunlight conditions. It uses advanced modulation methods and techniques to reduce leakage currents and meet safety standards for transformerless PV systems. The inverter allows for two-way power flow, improves maximum power point tracking (MPPT), and ensures smooth grid synchronization for better energy production. Its simple power stage and control design make it appropriate for both residential and commercial PV setups. Overall, the buck-boost transformerless inverter improves the performance, safety, and grid compatibility of modern PV systems.
